Man’s Body Pulled from River Nene

A man who was in his 50s died after he was taken out of River Nene on the evening of 5th March.  It has been confirmed that the man was from Peterborough and he died after he had fallen into the river.  Firefighters who rescued him made desperate attempts to revive him, but the victim failed to regain consciousness.  

The man who has not been named yet was taken to the Peterborough City hospital and was pronounced dead.  This tragedy came to light when an anonymous person spotted the man in the water and dialed 999.  It is believed that the man had fallen into the river following a boating accident.

According to a police spokesman emergency services were informed that a man who may be around 50s had been spotted in the river Nene at Orton Mere.  A short search was conducted and the body was recovered by the fire service.  The victim was then taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead after a short while.  

According to a spokeswoman of the East of England Ambulance Service, the victim was hyperthermic and when they arrived at the scene, they found CPR was in progress.  It is believed the man was in water for about 30 minutes.
