Leamington incident sees man seriously injured

An accident involving a heavy duty bucket has caused a worker serious injury, with the call out of the air ambulance to airlift him to hospital from Leamington.

The accident happened on 04/09/11 at Clarendon Street, Leamington at 3 pm, and Northampton and Warwickshire Air ambulance services were called out to the scene, alongside ambulances and paramedic teams, which delivered him to Coventry University Hospital.

The man who is in his 40’s is believed to have been undertaking roadwork construction when a bucket which weighed a ton fell on top of him. The injuries sustained required a neck collar, spinal board and leg splint. He has been diagnosed with a broken leg and pelvic injuries, alongside acute back pain.

A spokesman for the West Midlands Ambulance Service has stated that the man has been hit by a one ton bucket, which was dangling from a digger prior to the accident, on Clarendon Street. He added that the worker is being medicated for back pan, leg injuries, and fractures. He finalised by saying that he was airlifted to hospital, where he will undergo further medical assessment.
