Fatal accident involving coaches

« Back to News Headlines

Police had to appeal for witnesses after a fatal collision involving two coaches as well as a car near Litchfield on 2nd September.

Hampshire Constabulary confirmed that an 81 year old woman from High Wycombe and who had been a passenger in the front of the car had died in the collision.

The car, a silver Vauxhall Meriva was being driven at the time by an elderly man who had minor injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Another two people required treatment at the scene but did not need to be transferred to hospital.

The coaches which were both single deckers remained at the scene whilst alternative transport was provided for both sets of passengers.

Although a section of the A34 was shut in both directions after the incident to let the air ambulance land, the northbound carriageway re-opened a short while later as it wasn’t needed; the road was re-opened fully a little after 5pm.
